Most aquarium manufacturers list the "gross" volume of a tank. However, once you add substrate, rocks, driftwood, and equipment, the actual water volume (Net Volume) can be 15-30% less. Dosing based on gross volume often leads to accidental overdosing, which can be fatal for sensitive fish and shrimp.
To find your tank's volume, multiply the Length x Width x Height. In the US, divide the total cubic inches by 231 to get Gallons. In metric regions, divide cubic centimeters by 1,000 to get Liters. Our tool automates this and applies a displacement factor for your decor.
